When Bhavna moved to Australia, she was expecting a new adventure. She was met with an emptiness that she couldn’t quite put her finger on. Her doctor prescribed food. Food from her childhood to be exact. A good dose of nostalgia that wasn’t in the westernised version of Indian food (aka butter chicken or beef vindaloo).

She started cooking her family recipes and from there, she started a food blog, documenting her journey with rediscovering the food she grew up with.

Now, The Modern Desi has grown from just a food blog, to a fully fledged food service with cooking classes, recipes and jarred chutney’s for sale.

I had so much fun creating these images for Bhavna (and just as much fun eating the amazing chutneys!).
